Saving Money and "Doing It As I Go"
June 2016—It was bad enough that Jennifer Wilson's triple-decker in Mattapan was damaged by fire two years ago. Her misfortune was compounded by the fact that her insurance settlement did not cover the true cost of repairs. That means every dollar counts as she works to restore her home.
To date, Jennifer has completed renovations on the first and second floors. The rental income will help her renovate the third. She has used many creative strategies to make a little money go a long way with affordable materials from the Reuse Center at Boston Building Resources. The following three-minute video tells more of her story.
