Reuse Center Renovation Moves Forward

Over the last month, the Reuse Center renovation project has moved forward steadily and is projected to be completed by February 1. Insulated panels have been installed on the roof and exterior walls, and trim work to complete the exterior is now underway.

We’ve got the power

A major step forward was the installation of a utility pole and three transformers that will convey electricity from the grid to two new rooftop heating and cooling units. This all-electric system will ultimately be powered by solar panels, to be installed in the near future.

Ductwork to distribute the heated or conditioned air through the building is being installed. Electrical contractors are now at work connecting the building’s wiring to the new supply and installing new LED light fixtures.

Exterior work

Work is in progress to create a curb cut that will allow BBR’s truck and van to enter the new vehicle bay. This curb cut will replace the previous one located on Terrace Street next to the Reuse Center building, which has been closed up. Completion of the new curb cut is scheduled for December 23.

Overhead doors are expected to arrive and be installed on January 5.

The building addition has been framed out. Installation of windows and entry doors will come next.

Interior work

More framing has been done inside the building to create supply closets and a new accessible bathroom. The wall that previously separated the sales office from the main retail space has been removed.

Flooring tiles in the old office have been removed and the concrete floor restored to match the rest of the retail space.

A staff team has developed a plan for the placement of racks and the organization of products in the new space.

We still need to raise the funds to fully cover the renovation’s $1.8 million cost. Please make a contribution if you can!
