Eliminating or reducing air leakage is one of the most cost-effective energy efficiency measures home owners and renters can undertake. A tight home can better take advantage of the newer technologies and materials such as heat pumps, low-U windows, and ERVs. Air infiltration also impacts comfort, moisture control and odor control if you are in an apartment. Most measures are fairly low tech and DIY. We’ll look at how to locate, measure and fix air leaks to reduce energy, save money and increase comfort.
